Landscape design and installation that elevates your property

Planting beds, trees, shrubs and perennials, installed on a properly prepared site and planned from the start, with design guidance in-house.

LANDSCAPE DESIGN & INSTALLATION

Planting that looks intentional from day one and fills in beautifully over time.

Good landscaping starts below the surface: grade, soil, drainage and spacing. Then comes the plant palette, chosen for sun, shade, wind and the realities of Maryland winters and humid summers. We install shrubs, perennials, trees and refreshed garden beds designed for structure, color and year-round visual appeal, and we leave you with beds that are clean, edged and ready to grow.

Right-sized design for your project.

We design every project with you, from layout and materials to plant selection, then build it ourselves.

Why that matters: one point of accountability from plan to planting.

Plants chosen for where you live.

  • Waterfront and Bay-adjacent yards: wind, salt spray and wet feet call for tough, salt-tolerant and water-tolerant plantings.
  • Shaded, wooded lots: Severna Park, Arnold and Crownsville yards often sit under mature canopy and need shade-appropriate plants.
  • Clay soil: heavy soil needs amendment and the right plants, not just more mulch.
  • Deer and wildlife: plant selection that holds up to browsing.

Install it once. Keep it beautiful for years.

New plantings establish best with consistent care. Add a maintenance plan and we'll keep beds clean, mulched and edged. Learn more: Maintenance Plans

Designing planting for Anne Arundel soils, water and wildlife.

A planting plan here has to work with the ground and the water as much as the style: heavy clay and sandy shoreline soils, mature shade, wet low spots, wind and salt, and deer. Rules vary by property, so treat this as a general guide; we'll confirm specifics at the free on-site estimate.

  • Start with native plants. The County publishes a native plant list to guide choices, and natives are a strong starting point for beds, buffers and rain gardens, especially near the water.
  • Buffer plantings. Removing or pruning vegetation in the 100-foot Critical Area Buffer generally needs an approved plan first, and removed plants may need to be replaced with natives. Anne Arundel County: Vegetation Management Plans · Critical Area
  • Soil. Heavy clay needs amending and the right plants, while sandy ground drains quickly and lets nutrients migrate. USDA Web Soil Survey
  • Water. Rain gardens, redirected downspouts and native buffer plantings slow runoff and help it soak in. Waterfront Homeowners Guide

How a planting plan comes together

We build the plan in layers: structure from trees and evergreens, mid-height shrubs for shape and screening, perennials and groundcovers for seasonal color and coverage, and landscape lighting and hardscape edges to frame it. Plants are matched to light, soil moisture and exposure, then installed with prepared beds, mulch and clean edging. For larger projects we plan the layout, materials and plants with you, then build it ourselves. See Hardscaping & Patios and Outdoor Living for how planting pairs with hardscape.

Frequently asked questions

Do you provide landscape design?

We design every project with you, from layout and materials to plant selection, then build it ourselves. Your project is properly planned from the very beginning.

What does landscape installation include?

Planting projects include shrubs, perennials, trees and refreshed garden beds, along with grading, mulch and clean-up. We outline exactly what's included in your written proposal.

When is the best time to plant in Maryland?

Spring and fall are the best planting windows and also our busiest, so we recommend scheduling early. Lead times depend on the season and the size of the project. We'll recommend timing for your plants and project at the estimate.

Can you clear an overgrown area before planting?

Yes. We handle site clearing and grading, including removal of thick brush and cleanup and disposal of debris, so you start with a clean, prepared site.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes. We provide free on-site assessments, discuss your goals and provide a clear written proposal.

Do I need approval to plant or remove plants near the water?

Possibly. In the 100-foot Critical Area Buffer, removing or pruning vegetation generally needs an approved plan first, and removed plants may need to be replaced with natives. We'll help you identify what to confirm before work starts. See Vegetation Management Plans and the Critical Area page.

What native plants do well in Anne Arundel County?

It depends on light, moisture, soil and exposure. The County's native plant list is a good place to start, and we'll recommend choices for your site, from shade and wet ground to open, windy or salty exposures.

Can you plan a rain garden or planting for a wet spot?

Often. Rain gardens and native plantings can help water soak in, but we assess where the water comes from first, since the fix may also involve regrading or drainage. See the Waterfront Homeowners Guide and our Drainage & Grading service.
